- The Roman fonts used in this site are variations of Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum. (They used to be variations of Optima Nova, a redesign of my favorite typeface, Hermann Zapf’s Optima. These fonts are from the Linotype/Monotype Imaging library and served by Fonts.com Web Fonts, but I had to abandon them as covering the expense got to be too much.
- The Japanese typefaces are Ro Nikkatsu Sei Kai (the brush-style font on the welcome page) and Adobe’s Source Han Serif and Source Han Sans, all served by Typekit.
- Background images. I got the patterns around the edges of the “scroll” and the bands across the top and bottom from Komon-ya (小紋屋). The background of the text area is a scan of a sheet of hand-screened Izumogami, a type of traditional Japanese paper.
